céleste
Céleste is a café and pastry shop that aims to bring authentic French dishes to the heart of San Diego. The café features boulangerie and viennoiserie, as well as pâtisserie. The business caters to affluent women and men between the ages of twenty-five to thirty-five who seek to enjoy traditional, high-quality French dishes. French cuisine is seen by many as the gold standard therefore a fitting name Céleste, which means heavenly or celestial, was chosen for this establishment.
Design
I created a brand system that is elegant, feminine, and modern. It consists of an oval crest with the wordmark Céleste, descriptors, location, and a star that symbolizes light and the heavens. Additionally, I created a secondary logotype which consists of the wordmark Céleste and Café & Pâtisserie to fit in applications where space is limited. I also developed a pattern from compiled illustrations of French cuisine. These are paired with a simple colour palette featuring shades of pink, bronze, and white to give a feminine yet strong feel. The typefaces Brandon Grotesque was chosen for its clean look and soft corners, and Archer to manatin the feminine look while providing a legible typeface for smaller applications. Branded items include menus, coasters, receipts, shopping bags, and gift boxes.
